OUR YOGA INSTRUCTORS
George Bender, RYT (Yoga Instructor)- I have a M.Ed in rehabilitation counseling from the University of Pittsburgh and a B.A. from the Pennsylvania State University. I worked in the mental health feild for over 18 years. i am now employed as a Yoga Instructor, Certified Personal Trainer, and on the Oncology Unit at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh. My passion for fitness and health has been with me all my life and i decided to follow my passions and focus my energies and efforts in this area. I have been practicing yoga since 1978 and I have been teaching it for 2 years and i have recently got my RYT (registered Yoga Teacher). The Vinyasa stlye fow yoga that I have been certified in is a practice that focuses in flowing movement. It also emphasizes that each person is unique and will approach the practice with the body, abilities and capacity that he or she currently brings to the class. The style encourages a non-judgmental, non-competitive, inner-focused practice. Many alternatives and modifications are offered so that each person can have a safe, effective, and fullfilling experience that fits his or her body. A consistent yoga practice can really change your life. I also enjoy hiking, backpacking, running and just about any exercise. I love the natural world and find almost any excuse I can to get outside. I believe that health involves integrating the mind, body and spirit. I would love to see you in one of my classes and encourage you to explore the classes offered by all the wonderful instructors at the center. (check out Georges photo in our photo gallery)

When Mary isn't teaching or inspiring others to be centered beings -- on and off of their mats -- she enjoys spending time with her two fabulous children; taking yoga classes anywhere and everywhere; travel and the study and enjoyment of wine. She believes that taking yoga realistically off the mat and into the home and the community is where every person can make a sincere difference in this world.
